Chelsea could be set to make an approach for Hamburg midfielder, Rafael Van Der Vaart in the January transfer window according to reports in the Daily Telegraph today.Van Der Vaart, 24, joined Hamburg in 2005 from Ajax for a fee of €5.5 million and he has rediscovered his form at the Bundesliga side, which he lacked at the end of his Ajax career.
The Hamburg playmaker has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and this January it may just happen for him.
However, Juventus will attempt to snatch the Dutchman from under Chelsea this January. It has been rumoured that Hamburg will not let the free kick specialist go for anything less than £20 million.
