New York Mets Olympic Stadium

This stadium seating diagram show a proposed configuration for a New York Mets baseball stadium and a relatively simple conversion to host Athletics events for the Summer Olympic Games if New York is chosen as a host city. The stadium would seat 55,000 for baseball and 78,000 for the Olympic Games.

One of the advantages of this arrangement is that the baseball sitelines would still be normal, but the "bent elbow" that made seating behind home plate so far away and at such a bad angle for track and field would not be needed. This would make for a much more impressive seating arrangement for the Olympics.

Also, no outfield seats would have to be reconstructed after the Olympics using this arrangement. The 11,000 outfield seats could be moved straight back about 200 feet, similar to Mile High Stadium in Denver. These seats would then be incorporated into the Olympic Stadium seating bowl, as 22,000 temporary seats would be added in between to create the seating bowl for the Olympics. After the Olympics, the temporary seats would be removed, and the outdield stands pushed back to their normal baseball location. The lighter colored sections in the track and field drawing represent temporary stands.
