This is a diagram for a new arena for the New York Islanders Hockey team. This arena would have a capacity of 17,100. The lower bowl would be a horse shoe shape and would have 6,400 seats in 22 rows. The orange seats would be a 9 row club level along the side boards, seating 1,500. The upper balconies above that would have 19 rows and seat 3,500. The end balcony would have 26 rows and seat 4,300. There would also be a small folding bleacher section on the North end, seating 600. There would be 50 suites as well.
Why would I put 48 rows on one end and have just the pull out bleachers on the other end? Two reasons. First, people like to sit in the home team's shoot twice end, so here there would be many more seats in that end. Second, and more importantly, all 17,100 seats in the arena would have an end stage view, unlike most arenas where the grandstand goes all the way around the rink where up to 5,000 seats lose a view of the stage. With floor seating, the useful end stage concert capacity for this arena would be around 20,000, which would make it one of the largest and most ideal concert use arenas in the nation.

This is a very different design and I'm interested in your comments. Hope you like it.
