Apparently, the Nets are going to eventually move to a new arena in Brooklyn if the development ever gets approved. Some famous architect was designing the arena, but the sketches of the exterior look like hell and I think the whole thing is on hold for now. So I drew up my own sketch of what I think a new Nets arena should look like. Notice first of all that the floor is shorter, not long enough for hockey. There are already 3 hockey arenas in the NYC area, I think this arena would be better served as a basketball first venue, keeping the seats closer to the floor. I also stacked many of the 96 suites on the West side of the court, like in Atlanta. Many think that was a good design idea.
This arena would hold 17,600 spectators. There would be 850 Club seats shown in gold on the West side of the court. I also used a 650 seat retractable gymnasium style wooden bleacher section in the lower level on the north end of the court. That would be to replicate a college type atmosphere in that particular section; the rowdy fans would like this section. The rest of the lower level would seat 3,800. The second level would have 7,160 seats and be 26 rows high on the ends and 16 rows high on the east side of the court. The balcony would seat 3,700 in 22 rows on the east side of the court.
